Monaco suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at Guingamp in Ligue 1 on Saturday evening, where they played almost 70 minutes with 10 men.

Leonardo Jardim's side saw rivals Paris St Germain wrench the Ligue 1 title from their grasp last weekend with a 7-1 thrashing.

After another demoralising defeat, Monaco are now just a point ahead of Lyon and Marseille, who earlier hammered strugglers Lille 5-1.

Monaco got off to the worst possible start at Stade du Roudourou, with defender Jemerson shown a red card after just 21 minutes for handling on the line from Marcus Thuram's shot. Guingamp captain Jimmy Briand made no mistake from the spot.

Etienne Didot doubled the lead in the 34th minute when he cracked in a brilliant angled volley from 25 yards after the ball was floated out from a corner.

Thuram slotted in a third early in the second half, before Almamy Toure headed in a consolation for Monaco just after the hour mark.

Marseille had earlier kept the pressure up in the battle for Champions League qualification as they swept past strugglers Lille.
