Bowden, Gentz take titles at pageant

Hope Hull native Charity Bowden won the title of 2019 Miss Northeast Alabama on July 15.

The University of Montevallo junior took home the crown after a pageant at Southside High School, a competition with 25 participants.

The business administration and marketing major competed on the platform “My Father’s Gift.” She’ll be in the Miss Alabama Pageant in June 2019.

Hannah Gentz, of Hamilton, won 2019 Miss Northeast Alabama’s Outstanding Teen award. Gentz is a Hamilton High School senior who plans to get a degree in health research.

Her platform was “We are 1: Bringing Awareness to Type 1 Diabetes.” She’ll compete in March 2019 at the Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.

Emma Owen won the Community Service Award. Charity Bowden and Lian Remley won talent awards. Bowden also won a swim award.

First runner-up for Miss Northeast Alabama was Camden Swatts; second was Lian Remley; Lauren Reeves was third; and Sammy Rizzuto was fourth.

In the Teen competition, Hannah Getnz won the talent, evening gown and on-stage question awards. First runner-up was Emma Terry and second was Blakely Channell.
