SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Victory Drive has reopened after a gas leak forced the road to close between Florance and Burroughs streets on Saturday afternoon.

Savannah Fire was dispatched to the area on Victory Drive. When they arrived, they discovered a crew working in the lane had cut a two-inch gas line. The Hazardous Materials Response Team blocked off Victory Drive and 44th Streets between Florance and Burroughs streets. The gas company was called to shut off the gas and Savannah Fire secured the area.

Residents of the five homes closest to the leak were evacuated until the gas was shut off. No one was injured.
