Iraq exempts 540 goods from Jordan from customs duties

Iraq has officially exempted about 540 Jordanian goods from customs duties, the country’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Al-Qudah, announced yesterday.

Speaking to Jordan New Agency (Petra), Al-Qudah said that the decision “aims at increasing the volume of Jordanian exports to the Iraqi market, promoting economic cooperation between the two countries, and overcoming all the obstacles that have been preventing trade between the two nations.”

”There are ongoing contacts with the relevant Iraqi authorities to start implementing the decision,” he added.

The minister noted that the Jordanian trucks will be allowed to enter Iraq and vice versa. “This will contribute to boosting bilateral trade and increasing Jordanian exports to Iraq,” Al-Qudah stressed.

He also pointed out that the move will boost the logistics and shipping sector, which will create jobs.
