Undercover police have arrested three people after a city centre Black Mamba sting.

Plain clothed cops and and cycle officers took to the streets to find and arrest dealers who prey on vulnerable homeless people.

Ten people were stopped and searched as part of the operation.

Black Mamba is a potent synthetic cannabis that was a legal high until it was outlawed. It is also known as Spice and has been linked to a number of deaths.

As well as finding drugs, police also found a large amount of cash on the people arrested in the city centre operation.

A man who can barely move has fallen off a bench on to the rain-soaked pavement at the bottom of Bull Street.

In pictures posted on Twitter the haul taken off the streets can be seen.

In one image, 25 bags of the drug can be seen and another showed loose Mamba on a piece of paper.

Brum City Police tweeted: “CCT4 have deployed in the city against the Mamba dealers that prey on the vulnerable homeless community today using plain clothes officer and cycle officers. We’ve had a real positive impact on reducing demand…

“As a result countless overdoses prevented by 10 persons being stopped and searched with 3 arrested including 2 suspected Mamba dealers caught in the act.”

Earlier this week six police officers had to deal with two separate ‘mamba attacks’ in the city centre.

The officers were called to Old Square when the men began shaking and jerking uncontrollably on the afternoon of Wednesday 20.

Around 10 minutes later another man collapsed, falling onto the Tony Hancock Memorial where his legs could be seen shaking uncontrollably.

Potent 'zombie drugs' including mamba and spice have been described as a "plague" on the streets of Birmingham city centre.

The synthetic highs have been linked to two deaths in the city in 2017 and are being widely used by homeless people.
