Transneft planning to convert motor vehicles to natural gas

Background

The 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is being held as part of the Russian Energy Week International Forum.

Expanding the use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel is among Gazprom’s priorities in the national market. The Company develops the CNG filling station network, coordinates the efforts of relevant domestic NGV market players, and systematically expands its gas-powered vehicle fleet.

To date, Gazprom signed documents envisaging the conversion of motor vehicles to natural gas with the following pipe companies: United Metallurgical Company (OMK), TMK, Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (ChelPipe), and Severstal, as well as the Russian Post. Cooperation is in progress with Russian Railways, Sinara Group and Transmashholding in using liquefied natural gas at railway locomotives.

Transneft is a transmission company operating long-distance oil and petroleum product pipelines in 64 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Transneft’s fleet of motor vehicles exceeds 24 thousand units.
